Risk assessment

Filming in Porte Marsh is a very good location for our film footage because it is a large area that sets a very god scene for our footage. However, certain risks do need to be analysed.

Cars are perhaps the biggest danger to both our footage and our health. This is because we are filming by a well-used road for local businesses could result in a serious injury or perhaps fatal. To get around this, we decided to find footage on a Sunday. We realised that less cars should enter the premises of Porte Marsh industrial estate on this very day and so there would be less chance of any incidents. We also got footage on a Wednesday Afternoon for similar reasons. Fake blood was needed to be used in our footage in order to look like a fight had occurred. This did involve Ben swallowing a small amount of the fake blood mixed with water to give a good effect. We had carefully looked at the ingredients involved beforehand in order to make sure that Ben would not get poisoned or harmed in any way, upon the certainty of safety our group progressed as normal.

There is a scene where Ben has to pin Andrew up against a wall; this meant that Andrew (myself) couldn't hit his head against the wall itself in order for him to stay conscious and continue filming scenes. The effect in the footage may not be shown as realistic as it could have been, but this was to clarify that all actors in the group were not harmed in any way.

In conclusion, i would say that our risk assessment was carefully planned out and we stick to it well. This is evident in the fact no major incidents occurred, there were no injuries and the cast remained safe and well.

Why we chose our location

Most of our footage consisted of the abandoned street of Porte Marsh industrial estate, just on the edge of Calne, just near where Jumping Jacks use to be. We selected this setting because it looked very worn out and unsafe, much like the setting that we wanted to give an East London impression. The themes of insecurity and danger should add another level of intimidation for the audience. We decided to film on a Sunday so there would be less traffic and pedestrians in the way of our filming.
